Prop firm payout rules, explained

Passing is step one. These are the rules that decide when, and how much, you can actually withdraw.

Firms advertise splits and payout speed. The conditions that gate each payout are buried in the help center, and they matter more. Here's what to look for.

Consistency rules

A consistency rule says your best day can't be more than X% of your profit for the period. The quick math is the same everywhere: best day ÷ X% = total profit you need.

  • Apex (EOD PA): 50%, measured since your last approved payout. A $1,500 best day means at least $3,000 net.
  • E8 Markets (Performance stage): 40% Best Day rule. A $1,000 best day means $2,500 total.
  • Tradeify Lightning (bought after Sept 12, 2025): 20% for the first payout, 25% for the second, 30% after.
  • FTMO Instant: 30%, measured fresh after each reward.

Two details that trip people up: some firms count losing days in "total profit" (FTMO's new Consistency rule does; its legacy Best Day Rule didn't), and most rules reset after each payout. Breaking a consistency rule usually doesn't fail the account. It just delays the payout until other days catch up.

Qualifying days

Many futures firms require a number of profitable days above a threshold before each payout:

  • Apex EOD PA: 5 days at $100 / $250 / $300 / $350 (25K / 50K / 100K / 150K).
  • Tradeify Growth funded: 5 days above $100 / $150 / $200 / $250, resetting after each payout.
  • Alpha Futures (Zero, Standard, Advanced): 5 winning days of at least $200, up to four requests a month.

Buffers and safety nets

Many firms only let you withdraw profit above a cushion over your drawdown floor:

  • Apex: safety net = drawdown limit + $100 (e.g. $52,100 on 50K EOD), plus a $500 minimum request, so $52,600 to request.
  • MyFundedFutures Rapid: buffer of $1,100 / $2,100 / $3,100 / $4,600 before daily payouts start.
  • Take Profit Trader PRO: buffer equal to your maximum drawdown ($52,000 balance on 50K). Money inside the buffer can only be taken by closing the account, at 50% of the buffer zone. PRO+ has no buffer.
  • Tradeify Growth: a minimum balance to qualify, e.g. $53,000 on 50K.

Minimums, caps and splits

Expect a minimum request size (Apex and MFFU $500; Tradeify Growth $250 to $1,500 by size), a maximum per request that often grows with each payout (Tradeify publishes a tier table), and a split that varies by firm and stage: 80% in TPT PRO, 90% in PRO+, 90/10 at MFFU Rapid, 90% at Alpha, 100% on approved amounts at Apex EOD PAs. E8 lists the payout percentage per configuration and requires net profit above 50% of your daily drawdown on E8 One.

Payout checklist

  1. What's the consistency %, and does it count losing days?
  2. How many qualifying days, at what threshold, and do they reset?
  3. What balance do I need before I can request anything?
  4. What's the minimum and maximum per request?
  5. What happens to my drawdown after a payout (lock, reset or unchanged)?
